here is my setup.
can anyone beat those numbers?
Attachment 4864
My PC. Benched in the 8000s in 3D Mark.
Case - http://immortal-guild.net/forums/att...7&d=1173228269
Soundcard - Audigy 2 (ZS??)
DVD-R/W drive - some Samsung drive..
Motherboard- Gigabyte GA-965P-DS3 -
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813128012
PSU - Thermaltake Toughpower 650W
CPU - Intel C2D E6600
Hard Drive - Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 250GB 7200 RPM SATA 3gb/s (ST3250620AS)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16822148144
Memory - OCZ S.O.E 2GB (2 x 1GB) DDR2 800 -
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820227120
Video Card - Gigabyte GeForce 8800GTS
TV Tuner - Hauppauge 150PVR
Display - a small 24" Widescreen LCD from Dell& a 19" flatscreen CRT. Haven't dropped under 30FPS in WoW yet at full 1920x1200 resolution. I haven't seen any noticeable ghosting or banding. FEAR looked freaking sweet as well - some slowdown occasionally, but FEAR is an interesting FPS with the whole bullet-time thing anyway so didn't really impact the experience.

Geez, it seems like everyone plus their dog owns an nvidia 8800 now -_-'
I will humbly post my setup with the comment of, "It plays Vanguard VERY well at 1680 x 1050." This is a Dell XPS system with some aftermarket upgrades and a clean hard drive wipe.
Processor: Intel Pentium D, 3Ghz
Memory: 3 GB, 533GHz DDR2
Hard Disk: 160 GB Maxtor (stock)
Video Card: Nvidia 7600GT KO (eVGA)
PSU: Stock 375 Watt POS
Sound: Some random soundblaster card
Monitor: Dell 20"
Mouse: Logitech MX1000
Keyboard: Some random Microsoft comfort curve thing...really comfortable...and quiet, which is good.
It's time to see what kind of deal I can get on a solid PSU (intense games such as Oblivion will crash if I'm charging my iPod while I play :S) and an 8800 card. Don't really feel like spending the $$$ now, but probably soon.![]()
Check my sig for specs :)

Maybe one day i will have a real graphic sig!
I just ran the standard 3DMark 2006 (with cpu tests as well which ran less than 1fps) and got 1646 :( I think my CPU is holding me back the most - amd socket 939 x64 3000+. I bought the cheapest CPU at the time and figured i'd wait for the best ones to come down in price, and snag one when they're pretty low for a good upgrade... unfortunately AMD went with a new socket and the top end 939's have become rare and expensive even though they arent as fast as the new ones ><
Vid card is an ATI X800XL, 2x1GB memory, 2x200GB HDDs, X-Fi audio card. dont remember specifics beyond that. Thinking about going for an intel system when i go back to canada for a few months this summer.

It's actually everything that's holding you back. :( The 939 chipset is outdated (AMD uses AM2 now), the CPU is 3yrs old, and the GPU is about 2.
I highly recommend a mid-high end core2duo system with a G80 nvidia (8800gtx/gts) if you're going to buy in the next 6 months. You'll be able to hit over 10,000 in 3dmark06 with a nicely tweaked rig.
Maybe one day i will have a real graphic sig!

Oh, I agree, but out of all of it I'd have to say the CPU is the worst bottleneck. I bought it with the intention of buying the highest dual-core cpu for the socket when it dropped in price. Unfortunately, because of the move to AM2 and the subsequent drop in the amount of 939 chips made, the prices for all 939 chips rose sharply, so that didn't work out so well :p
I'm considering buying a quad-core based system with an 8800 GTS card in the summer. Prices have really dropped recently.

Man, just when I think I've got a decent computer... :( My poor little nVidia 512MB 7950GT is running away with its tail between its legs...although it does have the worlds biggest most ridiculous heatsink (no fan, silent cooling, just heat sink and heat pipes all over the thing)
Intel Duo Core 2.4 Ghz
CPU core frequency 1,869 mhz
FSB frequency 1,068 mhz
memory bus frequency 801 mhz
Nvidia SLI motherboard
2gigs mushkin corsair DDR2 PC3200 CL2.5 ram
Geforce 8800 GTS 680mb
2x 150 gig western digital RAID 0 HD
SB Audigy Gamer
pure aluminum case, solid copper heat sync, 3 video card fans, 4 case fans and a heat sync fan.
with pretty lights and alot of fans
custome built from velocity micro
i'm not quite sure what most of this means, it's my b/f's computer what it's what i use to play vanguard and daoc
New replacement quadcore gaming rig is in my sig.
I only swapped out cpu to g0 stepping q6700 quadcore, motherboard to p35 chipset Gigabyte P35-DQ6, and Thermaltake CL-P0114 air cooler. Maybe at the end of the year I'll go back to watercooling and get all apogee and dangerden parts, but we'll see. All extra funds are going to car to prep for turbo. ;)
I can post at 4000mhz, but I didn't want to push up too much voltage on air, so I can't get into windows. More than likely if I did get under water, I could be stable there. This chip rocks!
Oh, attached all my specs and 1M superpi score in a pic if anyone wants to see temperatures of cores, fsb, memory divider, memory settings, etc.
Maybe one day i will have a real graphic sig!

standard heat sink + 7 case fans to help cool it off, was 8 but had to take one out to fit in the video card
no clue
been meaning to have someone teach me about overclocking . . . .
**EDIT**
figured after my nap I should clarify this . . .
I did build the machine to overclock it but the guy that was helping me build it had his life go to shit JUST as we started assembly. I ran into a few issues I just couldnt wrap my head around as I finished it up so traded a guy a 6 pack of home brewed beer over at a mom and pop computer shop to have him clean up the loose ends I couldnt figure out. The guy that was helping me just isnt the same anymore and I dont feel like asking him to help me again, he's got enuff on his plate to be concerned with my bullshit little issues like overclocking my system. In all honesty I'm pretty much a retard when it comes to tech stuff

Oki, well, when things calm down over on my side, I'd be happy to teach you about it if you'd like to learn. It's actually not too difficult, and just requires a lot of patience more than anything, because it's mostly trial and error to see what works and what doesn't.
Once you become aware of thresholds that you don't want to exceed with voltage and temperature, the rest becomes cake. :)
Maybe one day i will have a real graphic sig!
I had fun this time i rebuilt my computer. But it was nothing but horror storys for the last year (my last major upgrade) nothing but issues. I will tell them is someone wants to here that.
